What We Do

We provide professional damp basement repair services for homeowners throughout State College, PA, including neighborhoods like College Heights, Lemont, Park Forest Village, and areas near Penn State University and Mount Nittany. Our mission is to identify and repair the root causes of basement moisture commonly caused by hillside lots, clay-heavy soil, and seasonal rain and snowmelt in Centre County. We offer affordable, long-term solutions designed to keep your basement dry while protecting your home’s foundation and indoor air quality. If you would like a FREE, no-obligation estimate on the cost to repair your damp basement for good, fill out the short form below.

Common Problems

Keeping basements dry in State College can be challenging due to sloped terrain, groundwater pressure, and frequent freeze-thaw cycles. Moisture often enters through foundation walls, floor joints, and poorly drained exterior areas, leading to persistent dampness if not addressed properly.

Water Intrusion

Heavy rainfall or melting snow can cause basement flooding which result in weakness in the ground beneath your foundation. Foundation sinking, bowing basement walls, and other structural damage can occur as the supporting ground softens. In the process, your’re left with an ideal environment for the growth of mold and mildew.

Biological Growth

Humidity in the soil and air releases destructive water vapor, debris, contaminates, and pollen. This damp air carries mold spores and musty odors, providing the perfect environment for insects and other pests, as well as wood rot. These issues affect your home’s structure and the quality of air in your living spaces.

Bowed Or Leaning Walls

All soil can expand and contract after a heavy rain or drought. When the soil supporting your foundation changes, it can cause your home to shift. During wet weather, water saturates surrounding soil, causing it to swell and push against subterranean walls. This lateral pressure can make basement walls bulge or leak, causing a wet and smelly basement.

How Do I Fix It?

Acculevel installs interior drainage and sump systems that redirect water before it can pressurize your basement. For many homes, our recommended solution is the Fast Track perimeter drainage system paired with a sump pump.

Redirection With Fast Track

Fast Track is a low-profile interior drainage channel set on or alongside the footing at the cove joint (where the wall meets the floor). It collects water from wall seepage, the cove joint, and under-slab migration, then routes it to a sump pump for safe discharge.

How Fast Track Is Installed

  • A narrow strip of concrete is cut along the perimeter to expose the top of the footing.
  • If the foundation is a block, small weep holes are drilled in the bottom course to relieve trapped water.
  • Pre-formed Fast Track sections are placed on/along the footing and connected to the sump basin; a wall liner or dimple board is integrated so moisture drains straight into the channel.
  • The trench is capped with new concrete flush to the floor, the sump lid is sealed, and the pump and discharge are tested.

Water Removal with Sump Pump

All Acculevel waterproofing systems drain into a top-of-the-line sump pump system and include safeguards against power outgages and pump failures. It is extremely important to have a second battery-operated pump in the sump liner in case of mechanical or power failure. Acculevel battery back ups are dependable and flexible.

Damp Basement Repair FAQs

Why is my basement damp without standing water?

Moisture vapor, condensation, and minor seepage through porous concrete can raise humidity and cause musty odors and biological growth.

What fixes dampness long term?

Targeted interior drainage if needed, sealed sumps, vapor barriers, and humidity control (dehumidification) to maintain recommended relative humidity levels.

Will a sump pump alone solve it?

A pump removes water; it doesn’t control air moisture. Combining drainage with humidity control addresses the full problem.
