It's officially the holiday season! As families get together to prepare food, scramble for items on their shopping lists and unbox winter clothing, here at Acculevel we prepare a little differently. This time of year is known as a "second season" for severe weather. Here in the mid-west, it is not uncommon to have isolated thunderstorms, torrential down pours and significant wind gusts.
This second season is a double threat. As temperatures and precipitation levels more closely resemble a roller coaster than the tail end of summer, ground soil and concrete begin to contract and expand. Partially to do with excess moisture eroding soil beneath slabs, and also because of thermal expansion of the concrete material itself.
